416 stainless steel is a hardenable chromium steel which elements have been added to improve the machinability and non-galling characteristics. This grade is magnetic in all conditions. Phosphorus and sulphur have been added to produce a free machining stainless steelĀ used for bolsters, guards, and other knife parts.
