The firm, stretch-resistant woven nylon backing embedded in our Scotch-Brite™ SE Surface Conditioning Low-Stretch Belt is well suited for high belt tensions and makes it is ideal for backstand use, file belt tools, and any other machine applications that allow for only minimal belt stretch.

Our Scotch-Brite open web design resists loading for longer life and consistency and offers the flexibility needed to achieve consistent results on contoured surfaces and edges without gouging or undercutting the workpiece. This means greater productivity and lower inventory costs. Operators rely on Scotch-Brite belts to produce a consistent finish part after part, for the life of the belt. We engineered the belt to perform high initial and extended rates of cut, while maintaining superior edge durability. Scotch-Brite™ SE Surface Conditioning Low-Stretch Belts are constructed with aluminum oxide abrasive for coarser grades and silicon carbide for the finer grades. Silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint prep and finishing. Aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral that provides high cut-rate and long life. While silicon carbide breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a finer finish.

Belt sanders are used for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on surfaces of many different sizes and shapes. 3M offers a broad selection of belts to fit almost any industrial belt sander. Wide belt sanders are used for finishing or deburring large sheet metal parts. Medium width belts fit onto backstands, benchstands, and portable belt sanders and are used for scratch refinement, reaching Ra finish requirements, or applying a stainless steel aesthetic finish. Narrow belts are used with file tools or expander wheels to access small areas or inside corners.
